We also have a campus in Melbourne and co-working spaces in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide. But you have choice in where and how you work. That means if you want to do your thing in the office (if you're near one), at home or a bit of both, it's up to you. </p><p><strong>What you’d be doing in this role</strong></p><p>As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that's all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you'll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.</p><p><strong>At the moment, this role is focused on:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop shared frontend frameworks and component libraries used by all product teams.</li><li>Build tools and infrastructure that streamline development workflows and improve code quality.</li><li>Identify and address frontend performance and scalability challenges.</li><li>Collaborate with design system and product teams to ensure accessibility, consistency, and reliability.</li><li>Lead technical design discussions and advocate for frontend best practices.</li><li>Mentor engineers and help grow Canva’s frontend community of practice.</li></ul><p><strong>You're probably a match if</strong></p><ul><li>5+ years of experience developing large-scale frontend applications.</li><li>Expertise in Javascript, React, TypeScript, and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, etc.).</li><li>Strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimisation, and accessibility.</li><li>Experience building shared frameworks, design systems, or developer tooling.</li><li>Excellent communication and collaboration skills — you enjoy partnering across disciplines.</li><li>Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance trade-offs in browser environments.</li><li>Bonus: Interest or experience in integrating AI capabilities into user experiences (e.g., generative design features, intelligent UI assistance, or adaptive UX systems).</li></ul><p><strong>About The Supergroup</strong></p><p>The Product Platform Supergroup (SG) builds Canva’s shared product foundations across the Client Platform, Application Platform, and Product Insights Enablement (PIE), enabling teams to ship consistent, fast, and reliable experiences at global scale.</p><p>The Product Platform SG focuses on empowering engineers by creating shared backend and frontend frameworks, APIs, and developer tools that simplify product delivery and improve consistency across the Canva ecosystem.</p><p><strong>About the Role</strong></p><p>As a Senior Frontend Engineer in the Product Platform SG, you’ll design and develop the shared libraries, frameworks, and tooling that support all Canva product surfaces. You’ll work on improving developer experience, performance, and architecture across our frontend ecosystem.
