<h2>Overview</h2> <p>DecisionPoint seeks a <strong>Backup, Recovery & Replication Specialist</strong> to support enterprise continuity of operations (COOP) and disaster recovery (DR) capabilities across a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role is responsible for implementing and managing secure database backup strategies, replication configurations, log shipping, failover clustering, and recovery procedures that meet strict RTO/RPO requirements. </p> <p>The specialist ensures highly reliable and resilient data protection and recovery processes for mission-critical systems while collaborating with database, cybersecurity, and cloud engineering teams to maintain IL5-compliant backup and replication architectures. </p> <p><em>This position is fully remote.</em> </p> <p><strong>Note:</strong> By applying to this position, you acknowledge and consent to having your resume included in an active competitive government contract bid.</p> <h2>Duties & Responsibilities</h2> <p>The Backup, Recovery & Replication Specialist will: </p> <ul> <li>Manage backup, restore, and replication strategies across production and non-production database environments. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ensure COOP and DR procedures meet established <strong>Recovery Time Objectives (RTO)</strong> and <strong>Recovery Point Objectives (RPO)</strong>. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Configure and maintain log shipping, database mirroring, clustering, and high-availability replication. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Conduct regular backup validation, restore testing, and failover exercises to ensure operational readiness. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Monitor backup job performance, replication lag, storage utilization, and data integrity. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Troubleshoot backup failures, replication inconsistencies, and recovery issues. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Implement secure backup encryption, access control, and IL5-compliant data protection measures. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Support RMF documentation for AU, SC, CP, and AC control families as related to COOP and data protection. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Maintain COOP/DR runbooks, backup schedules, architecture diagrams, and operational SOPs. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Coordinate with database administrators on schema considerations, retention settings, and log management. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Work with cybersecurity teams to address vulnerabilities, patching dependencies, and secure backup configurations. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Support DR exercises, continuity planning, tabletop reviews, and audit inquiries. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Provide recommendations for improving reliability, redundancy, and backup automation workflows. </li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <p><strong>Clearance Requirement</strong> </p> <p>Must hold an active Top Secret clearance, supported by a Tier 5 background investigation. </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Education (Required)</strong> </p> <p>Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Systems Engineering, Database Administration, or a related technical field. </p> <p> </p> <p><strong>Experience (Required)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Minimum <strong>5 years</strong> of experience managing backups, recovery operations, or replication technologies. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience supporting COOP/DR strategies in enterprise or secure environments. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience performing restores, replication configuration, and backup validation tests. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with RTO/RPO planning and execution. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience troubleshooting failover, replication lag, and data integrity issues. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience applying DoD cybersecurity standards to backup and storage systems. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Technical Knowledge (Required)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Proficiency with database backup tools, replication technologies, and clustering methods. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of SQL Server, MySQL, Oracle, or PostgreSQL backup and failover capabilities. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Knowledge of IL5 data protection requirements and secure storage principles. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Familiarity with RMF control families related to continuity and secure data handling. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with log shipping, mirroring, snapshots, and cloud-based backup mechanisms. </li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical Knowledge (Preferred)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Experience with AWS cloud backup platforms (S3, Glacier, RDS snapshots, etc.). </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with automation scripting for backup orchestration. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Knowledge of enterprise DR platforms and orchestration tools. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Certifications</strong> </p> <p><strong>Required:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>CompTIA Security+ </li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>AWS Backup or Disaster Recovery certifications </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Database vendor certifications (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) </li> </ul> <ul> <li>CISSP or CCSP </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Skills</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities for backup, replication, and recovery issues. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Excellent attention to detail to ensure data integrity and COOP/DR reliability. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Clear communication skills for coordinating with database and cybersecurity teams. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ability to maintain documentation,
