<h2>Overview</h2> <p>DecisionPoint seeks a <strong>CMS Development and Architecture Lead</strong> to support enterprise-level Content Management System modernization, feature development, and technical architecture within a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment. This role architects and oversees the development of CMS modules, templates, custom components, API integrations, single sign-on flows, and search capabilities while ensuring adherence to security requirements and coding best practices. </p> <p>The CMS Development and Architecture Lead plays a key role in shaping the technical roadmap, advising on modernization paths, and ensuring stable, secure, scalable CMS implementation that aligns with mission needs. </p> <p><em>This position is fully remote.</em> </p> <h2>Duties & Responsibilities</h2> <p>The CMS Development and Architecture Lead will: </p> <ul> <li>Architect CMS modules, templates, content structures, and system workflows that support enterprise mission requirements. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Develop and oversee implementation of API integrations, backend data connections, and cross-system communication points. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Design and maintain secure single sign-on (SSO) flows, identity integrations, and user authentication patterns. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Define search architecture, indexing logic, metadata structures, and content discovery enhancements. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Provide coding oversight, technical reviews, and quality checks to ensure adherence to security, maintainability, and accessibility standards. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Lead CMS modernization planning, including assessment of new capabilities, platform enhancements, and long-term architecture improvements. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure compliance with DoD security requirements, including patching, secure coding, and vulnerability remediation. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Partner with infrastructure teams on deployment patterns, cloud hosting considerations, performance optimization, and scalability planning. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, and technical prioritization with product owners and PMO staff. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Troubleshoot complex CMS and integration issues, performing root cause analysis and recommending long-term solutions. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams, development standards, and API specifications. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Mentor junior developers and contribute to a high-performing development culture. </li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <p><strong>Clearance Requirement</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Must hold an <strong>active Secret clearance</strong>, supported by a <strong>Tier 3 background investigation</strong>. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Education (Required)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Experience (Required)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Minimum <strong>8 years</strong> of experience in software development, CMS development, or enterprise application engineering. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience architecting CMS components, templates, modules, API integrations, or enterprise web applications. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience developing secure code in compliance with DoD, federal, or industry cybersecurity standards. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience integrating authentication systems, identity providers, and SSO frameworks. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience troubleshooting complex code, integrations, or system interactions in enterprise environments. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Technical Knowledge (Required)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of CMS frameworks, content modeling, templates, themes, and module/plugin architecture. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience developing REST APIs, JSON integrations, and service-layer interactions. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Knowledge of secure coding practices aligned with DoD cybersecurity requirements. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Familiarity with search technologies, indexing services, metadata design, and content discovery patterns. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Proficiency with version control, code review processes, and modern development practices. </li> </ul> <p><strong>Technical Knowledge (Preferred)</strong> </p> <ul> <li>Experience with headless CMS, microservices, or decoupled architectures. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Familiarity with frontend frameworks or component-based UI approaches. </li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Certifications</strong> </p> <p><strong>Required:</strong> </p> <ul> <li>CompTIA Security+ </li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred:</strong> for collaborating with technical and non-technical stakeholders. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ability to lead architectural discussions and provide expert technical guidance. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to secure, scalable, maintainable code. </li> </ul> <ul> <li>Ability to balance tactical development needs with long-term modernization strategies. </li> </ul>
