<p>Preferably On-Site at an ESR Location | Remote Candidates Considered Anywhere in the U.S.</p>The Opportunity<p>ESR Motor Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Motor &amp; Drive Application Specialist to support our sales team with complex industrial electric motor, variable frequency drive, and project opportunities.</p><p>This role will serve as a specialized technical resource for larger and more demanding applications, including medium-voltage motors and drives, large motors, obsolete equipment replacements, specification-driven projects, frame conversions, and manufacturer substitutions. You will work closely with ESR's experienced inside and outside sales professionals to develop technically sound solutions and professional, customer-ready quote packages.</p><p>This is a hands-on technical sales support position for someone who can independently take a complicated RFQ, work through the application and specification requirements, coordinate with manufacturers, determine the appropriate solution, and develop a complete proposal from initial inquiry through order handoff.</p><p>The ideal candidate brings deep electric motor knowledge, strong application judgment, and significant experience with medium-voltage and other complex motor applications.</p><p>This position is preferably based at one of our seven locations in Rock Hill, SC; Atlanta, GA; Mechanicsburg, PA; Indianapolis, IN; Houston, TX; Grand Prairie, TX; or San Antonio, TX. Highly qualified candidates may also be considered for a fully remote position anywhere in the United States.</p><p></p>What You'll Do<ul><li>Manage complex quotations for large and medium-voltage motors, drives, and major projects from initial RFQ through order handoff.</li><li>Support ESR's inside and outside sales teams with motor selection, application questions, specifications, and technical problem-solving.</li><li>Review RFQs, specifications, bid packages, drawings, nameplates, and existing equipment information to determine appropriate solutions.</li><li>Select replacements for obsolete motors and equipment, including frame upgrades, dimensional evaluations, and manufacturer substitutions.</li><li>Cross-reference products between manufacturers and identify technically appropriate alternatives.</li><li>Evaluate application requirements including horsepower, speed, voltage, frequency, enclosure and cooling method, bearings, thrust, service factor, starting requirements, hazardous locations, mounting, and other application considerations.</li><li>Specify accessories and instrumentation including space heaters, RTDs, vibration sensors, bearing temperature devices, and related options.</li><li>Support medium-voltage motor opportunities and provide drive application support based on experience.</li><li>Work directly with manufacturers to obtain selections, pricing, drawings, lead times, and technical clarification.</li><li>Identify specification exceptions, deviations, alternatives, and potential application issues before proposals are submitted.</li><li>Develop polished, professional quote packages that clearly present the proposed solution, scope of supply, technical data, drawings, options, exceptions, and supporting information.</li><li>Manage quotation revisions and technical clarifications as projects develop.</li><li>Work directly with customers when technical involvement can help define an application or advance an opportunity.</li></ul> What We’re Looking For<ul><li>10+ years of electric motor, drive, or closely related industry experience preferred; strong candidates with 5+ years will be considered.</li><li>Strong working knowledge of industrial electric motors and motor applications.</li><li>Medium-voltage motor and/or medium-voltage drive experience strongly preferred.</li><li>Experience with large motors, obsolete equipment replacements, frame conversions, and manufacturer cross-referencing.</li><li>Strong knowledge of motor enclosures and cooling methods including TEFC, WPI, WPII, TEAAC, TEWAC, and similar designs.</li><li>Familiarity with hazardous-location requirements, bearings, thrust applications, starting considerations, motor accessories, and instrumentation.</li><li>Ability to interpret motor nameplates, dimensional drawings, specifications, bid documents, and other technical information.</li><li>Experience reviewing and responding to complex commercial and technical bid packages.</li><li>Ability to independently evaluate a complex RFQ, determine what should be offered, and develop a technically complete proposal.</li><li>Ability to organize complex technical and commercial information into a clear, polished, customer-ready quotation package.</li><li>Excellent communication, follow-up, organization, and attention to detail.</li><li>VFD application experience is highly desirable.</li><li>Comfortable working with CRM, ERP, Microsoft Office, email, and other sales technology.</li></ul><p></p><p>An engineering degree is not required.
