We are a team of Underwriters who provide primary property insurance and coverage options for property risks. Oculus underwrites risks to ensure appetite, proper risk selection, selects pricing and binds business for various insurance carriers. The unit handles all aspects of the business handling from submission intake, endorsement processing, quote and binder issuance.</p><p>At Oculus, we are seeking to build a team of collaborative, high energy individuals who enjoy learning and having a direct impact on our business.</p><p><strong>Position Description:</strong></p><p>An Underwriting Assistant works as a member of the Underwriting support team by providing customer service to customers and support Underwriters with efficient handling of business processes. The individual will assist in the handling of all underwriting tasks from submissions to binder issuance. The Underwriting Assistant will authority to manage their daily activities and be empowered to learn the business and seek opportunities to develop. </p><p data-pasted="true"><strong>Essential Duties/Functions:</strong></p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Under the direction of an Underwriter or Senior Underwriting Assistant </p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Work to support the Underwriting workflow in the day-to-day servicing and processing of new business and renewal accounts.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Daily communication with Underwriters and/or Senior Underwriters to ensure that tasks are being completed.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Assist in audit preparation.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Responsible for ensuring quality processing throughout the life cycle of a policy while building working relationships with internal and external teams.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Maintains underwriting files by ensuring all relevant documents are included and appropriately filed/documented within System. </p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, enhancements, rating plans and workflow.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Follows up with Brokers and appropriate departments for outstanding subjectivities, loss run requests, inspections and other documentation as needed. </p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Assist in the review of new and renewal submissions to determine if they meet underwriting criteria, and for completeness of documentation.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Request and review incoming Broker of Record letters, as appropriate.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Process non-renewals and cancellation letters and endorsements.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Review, finalize and issue policies.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Underwrite risks and assist the Underwriting team in accordance with the business plan and within delegated underwriting authority.</p><p><strong>Required Qualifications:</strong></p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>2+ years of experience in commercial property insurance on the wholesaler, MGU, or carrier side.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Ability to Multitask and prioritize work.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Strong attention to detail and understand the importance of business needs.</p><p>•<span style="white-space:pre;"> </span>Strong organization and time management skills.</p><p><strong><em>Pay range: $22-$25 USD/per hour</em></strong></p><p>We are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
