<p>Description</p><p>Midwest Family Mutual Insurance Company is an “A-” (Excellent) rated property & casualty insurance company. We have maintained a fully work-from-home environment since 2006 and are seeking a <strong>Commercial and Personal Lines Underwriter</strong> to join our growing team.</p><p><br/></p><p><u><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></u></p><p>• Evaluate and underwrite both commercial and personal lines of new and renewal business submissions in accordance with assigned authority levels and underwriting guidelines.</p><p>• Assess risk characteristics and exposure to determine pricing and coverage options.</p><p>• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with independent agents.</p><p>• Negotiate terms and conditions with producers to write profitable business.</p><p>• Maintain compliance with underwriting policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.</p><p>• Contribute to the evolution of underwriting strategies, guidelines, and workflows, including the development of AI-driven tools to enhance underwriting accuracy, efficiency, and decision-making.</p><p>• Participate in training, mentoring, or knowledge-share initiatives to support continuous improvement.</p><p><br/></p><p><u><strong>Requirements</strong></u> </p><p>• Minimum of 3 years of experience in property and casualty insurance is required.</p><p>• Strong understanding of both personal and commercial lines of insurance is preferred.</p><p>• Proficient knowledge of coverage forms and endorsements, with the ability to interpret and apply them effectively.</p><p>• Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.</p><p>• Must have high-speed cable/DSL internet and a dedicated home office space.</p><p>• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.</p><p>• Self-motivated and capable of working independently with strong time-management abilities.</p><p>• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with various technologies and systems; strong keyboarding skills.</p><p>• Effective team player, able to collaborate across departments and roles.</p><p>• Commitment to regular and reliable attendance.</p><p>• Adherence to internal control policies relevant to assigned job responsibilities and administrative duties.</p><p>• Willingness to perform additional duties as assigned by management.</p><p><br/></p><p><u><strong>Education</strong></u></p><p>• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, or a related field preferred.</p><p>• Professional designations (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM) are a plus and demonstrate a commitment to ongoing industry education.</p><p><br/></p><p><u><strong>Compensation & Benefits</strong></u></p><p>• Competitive salary, internet reimbursement, and an excellent benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings, and Flexible Spending accounts.</p><p>• Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance.</p><p>• Robust retirement plans, including a 401(k)/Roth 401(k) with company match and a Defined Benefit Pension Plan.</p>
