<div class="trix-content"> <div> <strong><u>Job Description:</u></strong> </div><ul> <li>Conduct multiple telephonic hearings each day, take testimony, make evidentiary rulings, develop a complete hearing, and control the course of the hearing while maintaining judicial temperament and decorum among parties.</li> <li>Review case files and/or hearing record in preparation for hearing.</li> <li>Ensure proper legal notice to the parties of the time, date and place of hearing, and ensure the proper issues are noticed.</li> <li>Timely draft and issue final decisions applying Federal and Arizona law to the facts adduced at the hearing.</li> <li>Respond immediately to work-related communications throughout the workday.</li> </ul><div><br></div><div> <strong>Other Information:</strong> </div><ul> <li>Monday-Friday only, Work occurs during Arizona business hours.</li> <li>100% Remote - Out-of-state candidates are acceptable</li> <li>Out-of-state candidates will be expected to use their own computers and other hardware. Virtual desktop will be used and access to software will be through Virtual Desktop.</li> <li>Please submit a writing sample with application.</li> <li>Tentative start date will be dependent upon interviews conducted, onboarding completed, and the state agency issuing a PO. </li> <li>100% Remote - Out of state candidates are acceptable. </li> <li>JD Degree is required. Candidates submitted without this degree will be denied. </li> </ul><div><strong>Required Skills and Abilities:</strong></div><ul> <li>Excellent time management skills. Must be able to complete high volume of cases within tightly prescribed timelines.</li> <li>Ability to write clearly and plainly about complex legal issues.</li> <li>Extensive working knowledge of, or the ability to learn and apply, the rules of evidence, rules of administrative procedure, rules of judicial and legal ethics and due process requirements.</li> <li>Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the federal and state laws and regulations applicable to various administrative programs.</li> <li>Understand human behavior and psychology.</li> <li>Working knowledge of word processing software, communications software and the ability to learn proprietary applications required for the position.</li> <li>Be an active listener.</li> <li>Analyze and synthesize complex information from various sources quickly.</li> <li>Diplomatically control and minimize conflict between parties</li> </ul><div> </div><div><strong>Preferred Candidate will have:</strong></div><ul> <li>Previous experience serving as a hearing officer in administrative hearings.</li> <li>Graduation from an accredited undergraduate university or college.</li> <li>Graduation from an accredited law school.</li> <li>Located in Arizona.</li> <li>Membership and maintain good standing with any state Bar Association</li> </ul><div> </div><div><strong>Required Skills:</strong></div><ul><li>Experience working as an administrative hearing officer.</li></ul> </div>
