Overview<p>We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the finance function across multiple companies within our group.</p><p>The successful candidate will have strong experience in bookkeeping, Sage accounting software, and assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts, while maintaining accurate financial records across several entities.</p><p>This role requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-company environment, managing several sets of financial records simultaneously while ensuring compliance and accuracy.</p><p></p>Key Responsibilities<p>The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team with a broad range of accounting and administrative tasks including:</p>Bookkeeping & Financial Records<ul><li> Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for multiple companies. </li><li> Record and reconcile sales and purchase invoices. </li><li> Process bank transactions and bank reconciliations. </li><li> Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable. </li><li> Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial records are up to date. </li></ul>Accounting & Reporting<ul><li> Assist in preparing trial balances. </li><li> Support the preparation of management accounts. </li><li> Assist in producing monthly financial reports. </li><li> Help prepare year-end accounts for submission to accountants or auditors. </li><li> Assist with financial forecasting and budgeting where required. </li></ul>Sage Accounting System<ul><li> Use Sage accounting software for daily financial management. </li><li> Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure transactions are coded correctly. </li><li> Produce reports from Sage to support management decisions. </li></ul>Reconciliation & Compliance<ul><li> Perform bank, supplier, and customer reconciliations. </li><li> Assist with VAT returns and submissions. </li><li> Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations. </li><li> Maintain accurate financial documentation for audit purposes. </li></ul>Payroll & Expenses<ul><li> Assist with payroll preparation and reconciliation. </li><li> Process and reconcile staff expenses. </li><li> Ensure correct allocation of costs across companies. </li></ul>Multi-Company Accounting<ul><li> Maintain financial records across multiple companies within the group. </li><li> Ensure accurate intercompany accounting and reconciliations. </li><li> Track financial activity separately for each entity. </li></ul>Administrative Support<ul><li> Organise financial documentation and maintain digital records. </li><li> Liaise with external accountants, auditors, and financial advisors. </li><li> Support the finance team with ad-hoc accounting and reporting tasks. </li></ul><p></p><p></p> Skills & Experience Required<ul><li> Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or Bookkeeper. </li><li> Experience working with multiple companies, multi currency or entities simultaneously. </li><li> Strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software or other similar accounting software.</li><li> Experience with bookkeeping and trial balances. </li><li> Experience assisting with year-end accounts preparation. </li><li> Good understanding of VAT, financial reporting, and reconciliations. </li><li> Strong Excel and spreadsheet skills. </li><li> Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. </li><li> Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. </li><li> Strong communication skills. </li></ul><p></p>Preferred Qualifications<ul><li> AAT qualification (or studying towards AAT / ACCA / CIMA). </li><li> Experience working in a group company structure. </li><li> Experience with multi-currency accounting. </li></ul><p></p>Personal Attributes<ul><li> Highly organised and detail-oriented </li><li> Able to work independently and take initiative </li><li> Comfortable managing multiple sets of accounts simultaneously </li><li> Professional, reliable, and trustworthy with financial information </li></ul>
