<h2>About JerseySTEM</h2> <p><strong>All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.</strong>JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.</p> <p>Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a <strong>minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week </strong>and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.</p> <h2>Overview</h2> <p><strong>This is a pro-bono volunteer position.</strong></p> <p> </p> <p>JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.</p> <p> </p> <p>The <strong>Prospective Program instructors and Engagement Office</strong> deploys programs and activities to:</p> <ul> <li>Provide Mentoring (and other benefits) to the Program instructors who are volunteering with us</li> <li>Strategies to engage with Prospective college students who have not yet decided to join</li> </ul> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Mentor Program Instructors, providing guidance, support, and resources.</li> <li>Develop engagement strategies for prospective college students, promoting JerseySTEM.</li> <li>Collaborate with universities and colleges to recruit volunteers and instructors.</li> <li>Lead and manage a functional team within the Prospective Program instructors and Engagement Office.</li> <li>Effectively work in a virtual organization, utilizing digital tools and platforms.</li> <li>Communicate with school administrators, addressing inquiries and ensuring smooth partnerships.</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap</li> <li>Strong leadership/team building skills</li> <li>Resourceful, can-do attitude</li> <li>Experience with Universities and College campuses</li> <li>Outreach experience preferred</li> <li>Experience leading a function (i.e. team, department manager, etc) and managing others</li> <li>Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce)</li> </ul> <p>Would be a plus if candidate has flexible schedule to allow for day time calls with the school admins during the work week</p>
