<h2>About JerseySTEM</h2> <p><strong>All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.</strong>JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.</p> <p>Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a <strong>minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week </strong>and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.</p> <h2>Overview</h2> <p><strong>This is a pro-bono volunteer position.</strong> </p> <p> </p> <p>JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.</p> <p> </p> <p>The Program Instructors Mentoring program Advisor, provides subject matter expertise to the program lead in topics of resume writing, linkedin profile development, interview skills and job search strategies.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Implement a mentoring program for volunteer program instructors that provides support in personal and professional development.</li> <li>Provide additional professional resources to instructor candidates by offering mock interviews for internships, resume reviews and professional advice for life post-graduation.</li> <li>Work with and train recommended mentors to provide mentoring services to participants</li> <li>Routinely communicate with instructors to ensure they are fully engaged in the program</li> <li>Liase with mentors on a routine basis to ensure satisfactory delivery of services</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p><strong>Additional responsibilities</strong></p> <ul> <li>Serve as a Brand Ambassador to expand JerseySTEM’s footprint and build the brand</li> <li>Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates and </li> <li>Ensure participants in Federal Work Study are tracking hours appropriately</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree or equivalent</li> <li>Minimum 2 years of related experience</li> <li>Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap</li> <li>Strong leadership/team building skills</li> <li>Resourceful, can-do attitude</li> <li>Experience with Universities and College campuses</li> <li>Outreach experience preferred</li> <li>Experience leading a function (i.e. team, department manager, etc) and managing others is desirable</li> <li>Comfort working in a ‘virtual organization’ with digital tools (G-Suite, Slack, Jira, salesforce)</li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred</strong></p> <ul> <li>Proven ability to work effectively in a grassroot project and bring clarity to currently obscure projects</li> <li>Problem-solving and event-planning skills</li> </ul> <p> </p> <p>Would be a plus if candidate has flexible schedule to allow for day time calls with the school admins during the work week</p> <p> </p>
