<h2>About JerseySTEM</h2> <p><strong>All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.</strong>JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.</p> <p>Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a <strong>minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week </strong>and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.</p> <h2>Overview</h2> <p><strong>This is a pro-bono Unpaid position.</strong></p> <p> </p> <p>JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.</p> <p>The <em>HR Onboarding Specialist</em> will play a critical role in ensuring a welcoming and supportive onboarding experience for new volunteers and staff members. This position is ideal for someone passionate about making a difference in a nonprofit environment, providing a positive and seamless transition for new team members as they join the organization. </p> <p>The HR Onboarding Specialist will coordinate onboarding activities, maintain volunteer records, and help integrate new hires and volunteers into the organization’s culture and mission.</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li><strong>Onboarding Coordination:</strong></li> <ul> <li>Manage and coordinate the onboarding process for new volunteers and staff members, from acceptance to their start date.</li> <li>Prepare and distribute onboarding materials, including welcome packets, organizational policies, and mission information.</li> <li>Schedule and conduct onboarding sessions, including orientation and training on the organization's mission, values, and procedures.</li> </ul> </ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li><strong>Documentation and Compliance:</strong></li> <ul> <li>Collect and process all necessary documentation, including volunteer agreements, background checks, and any relevant certifications.</li> <li>Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to volunteer management.</li> <li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date volunteer and staff records in the HRIS system.</li> </ul> </ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li><strong>Volunteer and Staff Support:</strong></li> <ul> <li>Act as the primary point of contact for new volunteers and staff during the onboarding process.</li> <li>Address any questions or concerns that new team members may have regarding their role or the organization.</li> <li>Facilitate communication between new volunteers/staff and their respective teams and managers.</li> </ul> </ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li><strong>Collaboration and Communication:</strong></li> <ul> <li>Work closely with program managers and department heads to understand the specific onboarding needs of each role.</li> <li>Coordinate with IT, facilities, and other departments to ensure that all necessary equipment and resources are available for new volunteers/staff on their first day.</li> <li>Assist in the development and improvement of onboarding materials and processes.</li> </ul> </ul> <p> </p> <ul> <li><strong>Continuous Improvement:</strong></li> <ul> <li>Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the onboarding process.</li> <li>Gather feedback from new volunteers/staff and make recommendations for process improvements.</li> <li>Stay informed about best practices in nonprofit onboarding and volunteer engagement.</li> </ul> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li><p>Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred but not required.</p></li> <li><p>Experience in HR, onboarding, or volunteer coordination is a plus.</p></li> <li><p>Previous experience and knowledge with Enboarder will be highly appreciated</p></li> <li><p>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</p></li> <li><p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.</p></li> <li><p>Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.</p></li> <li><p>Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite is an advantage.</p></li> <li><p>Passion for the nonprofit sector and the organization’s mission.</p></li> </ul> <p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p> <ul> <li>Experience working in a nonprofit or volunteer-based environment.</li> <li>Familiarity with virtual onboarding processes and tools.</li> </ul> <p><strong>Working Conditions:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Flexible hours with the ability to work remotely.
