<h2>About JerseySTEM</h2> <p><strong>All JerseySTEM roles are pro-bono (unpaid) positions.</strong>JerseySTEM is a mission-driven professional network of pro-bono contributors dedicated to improving access to STEM education and career pathways for underserved middle school girls in New Jersey.</p> <p>Members contribute their professional skills and leverage their networks in service of the organization’s gender-equity agenda.Membership is a <strong>minimum six-month commitment of approximately six flexible hours per week </strong>and includes a $100 refundable deposit, returned after six months of active membership. K–12 educators, retirees, veterans, interns, and students are exempt from the deposit.</p> <h2>Overview</h2> <p>This is a pro-bono Unpaid volunteer position.</p> <p> </p> <p>JerseySTEM is looking for talented professionals across our departments to commit time and energy as long-term engagement for our mission to provide STEM education to underrepresented middle school girls.</p> <p> </p> <p>The Internal Communications Manager will own content strategy and creation for JerseySTEM’s internal communications on our internal platforms. You will have the opportunity to flex your creative muscles to develop engaging internal communications for all our volunteers and build a team of communicators</p> <h2>Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Plan and create content for our internal platforms, including newsletters, Volunteer Portal, cross-platform announcements, etc.</li> <li>Craft pieces including volunteer profiles, success stories, and announcements of newcomers</li> <li>Create storyboards and effectively collaborate with the creative team to convey messaging in a clear manner</li> <li>Ensure internal communications messaging remains consistent across platforms </li> <li>Utilize the JerseySTEM brand guide to create graphics and design layouts for communications as needed</li> <li>Draft and share communications written on behalf of the leadership team</li> <li>Partner with stakeholders on content creation and apply feedback </li> <li>Partner with Marketing on content shared on external platforms </li> <li>3-5 hours/week and minimum 6-month commitment.</li> <li>Attend weekly virtual team meeting (date and time TBD based on your availability). </li> <li>This is a remote volunteer position</li> </ul> <h2>Qualifications</h2> <ul> <li>Genuine concern about/interest in solving the STEM education gender gap for middle school girls in low income environments</li> <li>Experience with internal content creation preferred</li> <li>Strong creative skills to engage a virtual audience/community</li> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills</li> <li>Experience with using JIRA, Slack and Google Workspace is an asset.</li> <li>Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to think big picture </li> <li>Prior experience with a start-up and/or non-profit environment is preferred</li> </ul>
