We pride ourselves on our dedication to linguistic excellence and client satisfaction. </p><p></p><p>Prisma is actively seeking experienced onsite INTERPRETERS to join our team of independent contractors. In this role, you will provide simultaneous and/or consecutive ONSITE interpretation (OSI) services to Prisma clients in the state of California. Video Remote (VRI) appointments may also be available.</p><p></p><p>IN-DEMAND LANGUAGES: SPANISH, plus CHINESE (CANTONESE), KOREAN, PUNJABI, TAGALOG and VIETNAMESE. </p><p></p><p>Preference will be given to applicants with experience in the following specialized topics: Water board meetings/hearings, environmental and public health management, water conservation, regulatory and resource funding.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - applicants must meet ALL of the following:</p><p></p><ul><li>Preferred candidates will be court-certified in California or with US Federal Courts. If you are not court-certified, you MUST have at least two years of onsite (in person) experience interpreting in legal/courts settings and/or for state/federal government offices. Your resume must outline your relevant experience.</li><li>Trained and/or tested by recognized interpretation skills assessment organizations and/or higher education institutions.</li><li>Three references who can confirm your status as a professional onsite interpreter.</li></ul><ul><li>Full fluency in English and the other language.</li><li>Minimum age: 18+ years or older</li><li>Minimum education: High School Diploma</li></ul><p></p><p>Ideal candidates shall be able to provide:</p><p></p><ul><li>Simultaneous and consecutive onsite &amp; video remote interpretation for non-English speakers and state government representatives.</li><li>Effective review and understanding of all necessary background documents prior to assignments.</li><li>Strong experience using virtual interpretation tools (e.g., Zoom).</li><li>Ability to use tabletop sound booths, interpreter control units, FM transmitters, and headset/receivers.</li><li>Polite forms of expression, enunciation, and a high-level of customer service.</li><li>Correct concepts and meanings between the speaker and Limited English Proficient (LEP) speakers.</li><li>Correct grammar, clarity, and tone between English and the other language.</li><li>Experience with following the speaker’s direction, professionally interject when clarification is needed, and managing the flow of a conversation.  </li><li>Refrain from side conversations with the LEP and entering into any disagreement with the customer or LEP.</li><li>Professional appearance, polite demeanor, and being punctual.</li><li>Compliance with applicable ethics and standards.</li></ul><p></p><p>SECURITY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must undergo a criminal history background check.</p><p></p><p>IMPORTANT APPLICANT SECURITY NOTICE:</p><p>Prisma will never ask for payment information or fee transfers during recruitment or employment preparation.
