<p>The Accounting Manager runs SmartRoof’s day-to-day accounting operations: accounts payable, sales commissions, accounts receivable, customer financing, payroll execution, and supports licensing, insurance, and compliance records that keep the company operating in every market. </p><p>The CFO owns strategy and planning; this role owns execution. It is a working manager role—leading the AR team and contract accounting support, working hands-on when deadlines require it, and improving processes rather than maintaining them. </p><p> </p>Responsibilities <p>Accounts Payable &amp; Vendor Management </p><ul><li>Own the full AP cycle: invoices, approvals, payments, and card reconciliation. </li></ul><ul><li>Approve bills and expenses, ensuring correct job coding within CFO authority limits. </li></ul><ul><li>Pay bills with CFO approval </li></ul><ul><li>Own vendor records, compliance, communication, and dispute resolution. </li></ul><ul><li>Partner with operations on job costing and purchasing. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Commissions &amp; Payroll </p><ul><li>Own the administration all sales commission plans. </li></ul><ul><li>Resolve commission questions and disputes, keeping calculations transparent. </li></ul><ul><li>Lead commission and compensation systems with Sales and Technology. </li></ul><ul><li>Oversee payroll with People Ops and outside providers </li></ul><p> </p><p>Accounts Receivable &amp; Cash Flow </p><ul><li>Own AR end to end: billing, payment application, aging, collections, and escalation. </li></ul><ul><li>Optimize all payment sources and processes to keep cash flowing into the business. </li></ul><ul><li>Support cash flow planning, working capital, and banking relationships. </li></ul><ul><li>Report to the CFO on cash position, AR aging, and collection risk. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Customer Financing </p><ul><li>Own financing operations: workflows, approvals, disbursements, and issue resolution. </li></ul><ul><li>Serve as main contact for financing partners, sales, and customers. </li></ul><ul><li>Maintain financing SOPs and support the CFO and COO on financing initiatives. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Reporting, Compliance &amp; Risk </p><ul><li>Support month-end close and produce reconciliations and reporting for the CFO. </li></ul><ul><li>Support licenses, permits, registrations, insurance, and corporate records. </li></ul><ul><li>Support business liability coverage with brokers and carriers. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Team Leadership &amp; Process Improvement </p><ul><li>Lead the AR team and contract accounting support; hire and train as we grow. </li></ul><ul><li>Work hands-on alongside the team through peaks, absences, and turnover. </li></ul><ul><li>Find manual steps and control gaps, and implement improvements and automation. </li></ul><ul><li>Own accounting SOPs, systems administration, and governance across the function. </li></ul><ul><li>Partner cross-functionally, plus other duties as assigned by management. </li></ul><p> </p><p>Experience &amp; Qualifications </p><ul><li>5–7+ years in accounting or finance operations, owning AP, AR, and commissions. </li></ul><ul><li>Experience leading a small team and managing outside contractors. </li></ul><ul><li>Working knowledge of payroll and payroll tax; customer financing a plus. </li></ul><ul><li>Construction, roofing, solar, or home services experience a plus </li></ul><ul><li>Strong accounting software and spreadsheet skills; track record of improving processes. </li></ul><ul><li>Willing to do the work personally—a hands-on role </li></ul><ul><li>Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance preferred </li></ul><p></p>Compensation &amp; Benefits<ul><li>Base: $75,000 - $85,000</li><li>Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance</li><li>401(k) with 4% match</li><li>Employee Discounts</li><li>Referral Program</li></ul><p></p>About SmartRoof<p>SmartRoof is a fast-growing provider of roofing, solar, and home improvement solutions, committed to delivering an outstanding customer experience.
