In this role, you will play a critical part in protecting public health by performing sampling, monitoring, maintaining water system operations, and responding to system needs in accordance with Department of Health standards.</span></p> <p><span>If you're a detail‑oriented professional who takes pride in safeguarding essential resources, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your career and make a meaningful impact.</span></p> <p><span><strong><span>Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:</span></strong></span></p> <ul> <li><span>Collect and analyze required water samples in compliance with Department of Health regulations for public water systems.</span></li> <li><span>Serve as the Cross‑Connection Control Specialist of Record, ensuring backflow protection and system safety.</span></li> <li><span>Provide all sample results and reports to the Satellite Management Agency (SMA) as required.</span></li> <li><span>Ensure all water system sampling aligns with public health practices, state regulations, and industry standards.</span></li> <li><span>Identify, recommend, and implement remedial actions during system emergencies or contamination events.</span></li> <li><span>Follow all state-issued directives related to water quality and emergency response.</span></li> <li><span>Maintain all licenses, certifications, continuing education, and regulatory requirements related to water system operation.</span></li> <li><span>Communicate promptly with the Purveyor, SMA, and the Washington State Department of Health, Drinking Water Division regarding any potential or actual risks to drinking water or system integrity.</span></li> <li><span>Uphold the highest ethical and professional standards to protect public health and ensure system reliability.</span></li> </ul> <span><strong>Basic Qualifications:</strong></span> <ul> <li><span>Current <strong>Water Operator Certification</strong> (required).</span></li> <li><span>Experience in water sampling, system operations, or environmental/utility work.</span></li> <li><span>Strong understanding of DOH rules for public water systems.</span></li> <li><span>Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and respond quickly to system needs.</span></li> <li><span>Excellent communication, documentation, and problem‑solving skills.</span></li> <li><span>Commitment to public health, safety, and regulatory compliance.</span> </li> </ul> <p><span><strong>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</strong></span></p> <p><span>Strength: Standing 50% Walking 20% Sitting 30% Lifting 35 lb.
