<p>Description</p><p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p>Fencing Supply Group is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking Computer Science student for a part-time, remote internship. This role is designed to be highly flexible (10-20 hours per week) to accommodate a rigorous academic schedule and existing university commitments.</p><p><br/></p><p>The ideal candidate will work closely with the IT Development team to build standalone, non-critical internal utility tools, explore generative AI capabilities, and streamline data workflows. This position offers a direct mentorship opportunity to learn real-world software engineering discipline, production standards, and code maintenance.</p><p>Requirements</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><p>•Internal Scripting & Utility Development: Write, test, and maintain Python-based scripts to parse data formats, automate repetitive internal workflows, and build standalone utility tools.</p><p>•AI & LLM Experimentation: Assist in developing and testing internal proofs-of-concept utilizing GPT-based tools, API integrations, and prompt engineering frameworks.</p><p>•Code Discipline & Documentation: Maintain clean code repositories using Git/GitHub, write clear technical documentation, and actively participate in the code review process to align with team standards.</p><p>•Asynchronous Collaboration: Manage project tasks independently, providing regular, proactive updates on progress and hours spent via digital collaboration tools.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Qualifications & Skills</strong></p><p>•Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or a related technical field (Senior standing preferred).</p><p>•Programming Proficiency: Strong foundational knowledge of Python; exposure to C++ or Java is a plus.</p><p>•AI Frameworks: Hands-on experience or academic project work involving Generative AI, LLM APIs, and basic prompt engineering techniques.</p><p>•Core Engineering Tools: Basic familiarity with Git/GitHub, debugging methods, and algorithm design.</p><p>•Soft Skills: Strong time-management capabilities, willingness to receive constructive code feedback, and a high level of resourcefulness when troubleshooting technical challenges.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Position Logistics</strong></p><p>• Hours: 10–20 hours per week (Flexible)</p><p>• Location: 100% Remote / Asynchronous</p><p>• Duration: Academic Year</p><p>• Criticality: Non-production-facing tasks; designed as an educational, sandbox-style internship.</p><p><br/></p>
