<p>Description</p><p> LAC Federal is seeking an experienced Cataloger to provide high-quality PCC-level cataloging for a project with a major Federal Library in the Washington, D.C. Metro Area. This is a long-term, remote contract position starting immediately. Work is paid <strong>piece-rate</strong>, usually taking about 10-20 hours per week. </p><p><br/></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Create PCC BIBCO-level catalog records of English language material dealing with all subject areas, except for Law and Music.</li><li>Classify material using Library of Congress Classification.</li><li>Assign subject headings using Library of Congress Subject Headings.</li><li>Create and update name authority records to NACO standards.</li><li>Make recommendations regarding the new Library of Congress Subject Headings and/or classification numbers.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p>Requirements</p><ul><li>MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution.</li><li>2+ years of original cataloging experience in an academic or research library.</li><li>Expert knowledge of LCSH, LCC, MARC21 and other standards used in cataloging monographic materials.</li><li>Demonstrated history of BIBCO- and NACO- level cataloging.</li><li>Thorough knowledge and experience in cataloging workflows.</li><li>Familiarity with Classification Web, Cataloger’s Desktop, and the LC Authorities list.</li><li>Strong communication and analytical skills.</li><li>Excellent command of reading and writing English.</li><li>High attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to track work and meet deadlines.</li><li>Must be able to pass a federal security clearance.</li></ul><p><br/></p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Experience with Voyager or Folio library platforms</li></ul>
