<div>We’re looking for a<b> Principal Consultant </b>to lead and expand our T&D Engineering and Consulting Division at RMS Energy. This is a remote role ideal for a highly experienced engineer who can independently perform complex power system studies, advance team capabilities, and help drive business growth in related and adjacent areas. You’ll play a pivotal role in mentoring peers, shaping technical direction, and ensuring high-quality deliverables across a diverse portfolio of power system modeling and analysis projects.</div> <div> </div> <div> <div><b>What You’ll Do:</b></div> <ul> <li>Independently lead and execute studies in power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, EMT, harmonics, and techno-economics for transmission, distribution, load, and generation</li> <li>Guide script development and troubleshooting processes to improve study efficiency and reduce rework</li> <li>Advance capabilities and knowledge within the team, and collaborate to ensure high-quality, timely deliverables</li> <li>Apply and expand knowledge of power system standards, tariffs, rules, and guidelines, grounded in first principles</li> <li>Safeguard and manage technical and commercial information with strict confidentiality and compliance with agreements</li> <li>Coordinate with support staff to ensure proper project setup and closeout</li> <li>Review time logs weekly and proactively flag budget risks</li> <li>Organize and attend meetings with prepared materials to address study or workload concerns</li> <li>Ensure accurate time reporting to support cost recognition and payroll</li> <li>Maintain regular communication with leadership regarding ongoing needs, open projects, and team support</li> </ul> <div><b>The Experience We’re Looking For:</b></div> <ul> <li>8–14 years of relevant engineering experience required</li> <li>Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor others, manage timelines, and support cross-functional teams</li> <li>Hands-on experience with power system simulation tools and scripting</li> <li>Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex, abstract problems</li> <li>Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for technical reporting and presentations</li> </ul> <div><b>Additional Requirements:</b></div> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering preferred; additional experience may be considered in place of an advanced degree</li> <li>Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. or Canada</li> <li>Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests</li> <li>Valid driver’s license with a clean record</li> <li>Willing and able to travel at least 25%, including overnight trips as needed</li> <li>Must be proficient in reading, typing, hearing, and speaking English</li> </ul> <div><b>Bonus Points for:</b></div> <ul> <li>Master’s or Doctorate in Electrical Engineering preferred; additional experience may be considered in place of an advanced degree</li> <li>Engineer-In-Training (EIT) preferred; PE licensure is a plus </li> <li>Expertise in developing and optimizing automation scripts using Python or other tools</li> <li>Experience working with ISO/RTO tariffs, regulatory frameworks, and customer-facing consulting projects</li> <li>Contributions to internal process improvement or business development initiatives</li> <li>Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and deliver technical solutions under tight timelines</li> </ul> </div> <div> </div> <div> <div style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.87); font-family: Arimo, "Helvetica Neue", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;"> <div style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent;"><b style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent;">Why Join RMS Energy:</b></div> <div style="-webkit-tap-highlight-color: transparent;">We’re not just another power services company.
