We scale content from what already exists - turning catalogs and brand assets into high-performing formats for every major platform. </p> <p dir="ltr">Our mission is simple: help media companies unlock growth through high-volume, high-impact content.</p> <h2 dir="ltr"><strong>The role</strong></h2> <p dir="ltr">Were looking for a Director of Product to own product direction and platform strategy at Blurb.</p> <p dir="ltr">This is a hands-on leadership role. Youll be responsible for turning business needs and high-level ideas into clear product direction, working closely with engineering, design, leadership, and clients to ship systems that scale.</p> <p dir="ltr">The role is primarily product strategy and ownership. Hands-on design skills are a strong plus, but not a requirement.</p> <h2 dir="ltr"><strong>What youll do</strong></h2> <h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Own product direction & platform strategy</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Own end-to-end product direction across Blurbs platform</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Translate business goals, deal requirements, and revenue priorities into product strategy</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Decide what to build now vs later, and clearly explain tradeoffs</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Ensure the product effectively supports the entire content and distribution lifecycle, from creation through monetization</p></li></ul> <p><br></p><h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Build scalable systems</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Design workflows and systems that scale efficiently across large and complex catalogs </p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Partner closely with engineering to define scope, sequencing, and system constraints</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Anticipate reliability, scale, and operational failure points early</p></li></ul> <h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Make ideas concrete</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Take vague or high-level ideas and turn them into clear, testable product direction</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Use lightweight artifacts — flows, examples, prototypes — to align stakeholders</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Be comfortable creating quick prototypes (e.g. Figma, low-fidelity mocks, or vibe-coded demos) to demonstrate how things should work</p></li></ul> <h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Partner with design & engineering</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr">Work closely with Product Designers (where applicable) to:<ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Frame problems clearly</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Set quality bars</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Give actionable feedback</p></li></ul></li><li dir="ltr">Collaborate deeply with engineering on:<ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Scope and sequencing</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Tradeoffs between speed, quality, and scale</p></li></ul></li><li dir="ltr">Partner with the Design Department focused on template and motion design to:<ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Ensure product and design systems stay aligned through the video generation pipeline</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Collaborate day-to-day to troubleshoot, refine, and evolve how product and design systems work together</p></li></ul></li></ul> <h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Represent product internally and externally</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Act as a product voice in client-facing conversations</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Explain product capabilities, constraints, and tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Help align expectations with what the platform can realistically support</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Balance transparency with protecting the team from overcommitment</p></li></ul> <h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Drive alignment and momentum</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Run or contribute to product rituals (e.g. demos, reviews, roadmap discussions)</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Keep the team aligned on priorities and decisions</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Reduce rework by clarifying direction early</p></li></ul> <p><br><br></p><h2 dir="ltr"><strong>What youll bring</strong></h2> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">At least 5-10 years of product leadership experience, either as a founder or in a company setting where you owned product direction and outcomes</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Demonstrated ability to define and drive end-to-end product strategy, not just manage execution</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Strong product taste — a clear sense for what makes a product intuitive, cohesive, and high quality</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Systems and platform thinking; you see how parts connect and scale</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Comfort operating with ambiguity and incomplete information</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Excellent collaboration skills with engineering, design, and leadership</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Clear, confident communication of product intent to both internal and external audiences</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Experience thriving in early-stage or high-ownership environments</p></li></ul> <h3 dir="ltr"><strong>Bonus points</strong></h3> <ul><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Hands-on product design experience (Figma, flows, prototyping)</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Founder or early leadership team background</p></li><li dir="ltr"><p dir="ltr">Experience with media, content platforms, or creator ecosystems</p></li></ul>
