<div><strong>Job Summary: </strong></div><div>The Sr. Electrical Engineer (R&D) is responsible for collaborating on or leading the electrical </div><div>design, testing, and certification of new low and medium voltage power distribution products. </div><div>This role works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product safety, reliability, </div><div>manufacturability, and compliance with the relevant industry standards, and it builds the design </div><div>criteria, calculators, and reusable models that make each product line repeatable rather than one</div><div>off. The ideal candidate brings strong engineering fundamentals, technical leadership, and the </div><div>ability to carry complex projects from concept through production under limited direction. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Key Responsibilities: </strong></div><div>• Lead the electrical design for power and control on new product development </div><div>projects, from project initiation through production implementation. </div><div>• Execute and implement the New Product Introduction (NPI) electrical engineering </div><div>work for assigned projects. </div><div>• Write detailed electrical engineering specifications and lead the creation of electrical </div><div>schematics, wiring drawings, and bills of material for prototype equipment and test </div><div>units, in collaboration with commercial, mechanical, and CAD stakeholders. </div><div>• Work with Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs) to define product </div><div>evaluation and certification scope and the qualification path for each product </div><div>configuration. </div><div>• Develop and document test plans according to the relevant standards. Common tests </div><div>include full-load temperature rise, dielectric and BIL, and short-circuit and withstand </div><div>current tests. </div><div>• Support the testing process at in-house and third-party laboratories. Evaluate test </div><div>results and revise designs based on empirical data and established engineering </div><div>concepts. </div><div>• Characterize the electrical and thermal performance of common design elements </div><div>through testing, simulation, and analytical methods. Develop standard design criteria, </div><div>design calculators, and reusable design models. </div><div>• Develop modular, configurable designs and option matrices that support standardized </div><div>quoting and CPQ. </div><div>• Work closely with manufacturing engineering to implement Design for </div><div>Manufacturability (DFM) concepts throughout the new product development process. </div><div>• Work with mechanical and electrical designers to integrate electrical design into </div><div>equipment layouts and general arrangement drawings. </div><div>• Conduct failure analysis of existing products and identify opportunities for continuous </div><div>improvement.</div><div>• Engineer and design switchboard and switchgear to customer specifications, including </div><div>selection of electrical components (e.g., circuit breakers, relays, transformers) against </div><div>performance criteria, applicable standards, and project requirements. </div><div>• Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the equipment design through </div><div>manufacturing and testing, including Factory Witness Test (FWT) troubleshooting, and </div><div>as a technical resource to Sales and Project Management on proposals and customer </div><div>meetings. </div><div>• Mentor and support the professional development of junior engineers through design </div><div>reviews and knowledge sharing. </div><div>• Serve as a senior technical resource on production design work as assigned. </div><div>Assignments may span new product development and production engineering as </div><div>business needs require. </div><div>• Must comply with the company’s safety policies. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Qualifications: </strong></div><div>• BSEE or equivalent in experience. Master’s degree preferred. </div><div>• Minimum 5 years of experience in the electrical design of low and/or medium voltage </div><div>power distribution equipment or related products. </div><div>• Experience with NRTL (UL, Intertek/ETL, CSA, etc.) evaluation, testing, and </div><div>certification processes. </div><div>• Experience with common standards for electrical equipment (UL 891, 1558, 508A). </div><div>Familiarity with IEEE/ANSI C37.20.2, C37.04, C37.06, C37.09; CSA C22.2; EEMAC G8-3.2 </div><div>design guidelines; and NFPA 70E. </div><div>• Design experience using AutoCAD or similar to produce electrical diagrams and </div><div>schematics. </div><div>• Ability to travel up to 20% to support testing and other product development tasks in </div><div>person. </div><div>• Previous field service experience, knowledge and understanding is a plus. </div><div><br></div><div><strong>Core Competencies: </strong></div><div>• Expert knowledge of applicable electrical standards (UL, NEC, ANSI, IEEE) and </div><div>comprehensive knowledge of switchgear, switchboards, controls, and complex power </div><div>distribution systems. </div><div>• Solid grasp of three-phase electric power concepts and power control and protection </div><div>schemes. </div><div>• Design standardization, including design criteria, calculators, and reusable design </div><div>models. </div><div>• Excellent communication and technical writing skills, with strong organizational skills </div><div>and precise attention to detail. </div><div>• Technical mentorship and cross-functional collaboration.</div>
