<p>Description</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>General Ledger Accountant</strong></p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Department: </strong>Finance</p><p><strong>Location: </strong>Juneau/Anchorage/Lynnwood</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Exemption Status:</strong> Exempt</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Pay Grade(s):</strong> 11-13 ($71,389-$86,385+ DOE) </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Purpose:</strong> The General Ledger Accountant for Tribal Government will be responsible for managing and overseeing the general ledger accounting functions for the Tribe. This individual will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and efficient financial operations.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Essential Functions.</strong> <em>An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions with or without reasonable accommodation:</em></p><p>· Analyze general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and prepare detailed reconciliations explaining account balances.</p><p>· Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.</p><p>· Collaborate with various departments to ensure accurate coding of financial transactions.</p><p>· Conduct regular audits to identify discrepancies and ensure compliance with tribal policies.</p><p>· Process expense transfer requests and assist with accounting queries and reconciliations.</p><p>· Allocate monthly insurance and other costs appropriately.</p><p>· Generate monthly reports for Program Managers and quarterly reports for the Executive Committee, along with detailed reports upon request.</p><p>· Provide support for accounting software issues, resolving errors and documenting solutions.</p><p>· Stay updated on accounting standards relevant to tribal government operations.</p><p>· Assist with annual audits and implement audit recommendations.</p><p>· Assist in budget preparation and monitoring, providing financial insights to management. </p><p>· Assists in the preparation of financial reports for tribal council meetings and external stakeholders.</p><p>· Other duties as assigned.</p><h3><br/></h3><p>Requirements</p><p><strong>Knowledge, Skills & Abilities</strong>. A comprehensive set of capabilities required to perform job tasks effectively:</p><p>• Ability to work virtually or in an office setting.</p><p>• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.</p><p>• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and other standard office technologies.</p><p>• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and communication skills.</p><p>• Ability to identify discrepancies or inaccuracies in data and make corrections.</p><p>• Clear adherence to company policies and procurement rules and regulations.</p><p>• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.</p><p>• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.</p><p>• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.</p><p>• Experience working in governmental accounting, particularly with tribal governments, is a plus. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong> (education, experience, skills):</p><p>• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. </p><p>• Three (3) years of professional level experience as an Accountant</p><p>• Two (2) years’ experience with an automated accounting system (sage).</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong> (education, experience, skills):</p><p>• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. </p><p>Physical Requirements.
