<h2>Engineering Manager </h2><div><div id="artdeco-gen-105"><div id="ember7757"><p></p></div></div></div><div><div><p>We are currently supporting one of our clients, a fast-growing<span> </span><strong>Canadian HealthTech company</strong>, in the search for a<span> </span><strong>hands-on Engineering Manager</strong><span> </span>to lead their engineering team.</p><p>This is a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer who enjoys<span> </span><strong>both building products and leading people</strong>.</p><p>You won't be stepping away from the code: this position is approximately<span> </span><strong>50% hands-on engineering and 50% team leadership &amp; management</strong>.</p><p></p><p>🎯 What you'll be doing</p><p>You'll take ownership of the engineering function, working closely with the CEO and wider business to:</p><ul><li><p>Write, review and ship<span> </span><strong>production code</strong></p></li><li><p>Shape technical architecture and engineering decisions</p></li><li><p>Lead, coach and develop the software engineering team</p></li><li><p>Own sprint execution, agile delivery and roadmap planning</p></li><li><p>Maintain high standards around<span> </span><strong>DevOps, CI/CD, reliability, privacy and security</strong></p></li><li><p>Work closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success and other stakeholders</p></li><li><p>Support hiring and development of the engineering team</p></li><li><p>Translate technical decisions into clear business outcomes</p></li></ul><p></p><p>💻 Technology environment</p><p>Experience with the following is highly relevant: <strong>Go / Golang · React · PostgreSQL · AWS</strong></p><p>Experience with this exact stack is an asset rather than an absolute requirement; we're primarily looking for someone with strong engineering fundamentals who remains genuinely<span> </span><strong>hands-on with modern web applications</strong>.</p><p></p><p>👤 We're looking for someone who has</p><ul><li><p><strong>5+ years of professional software engineering experience</strong></p></li><li><p>Recent hands-on experience writing production code</p></li><li><p>Experience with software architecture and technical decision-making</p></li><li><p>Leadership experience as an<span> </span><strong>Engineering Manager, Tech Lead or Team Lead</strong></p></li><li><p>Experience coaching and mentoring engineers</p></li><li><p>Strong understanding of agile product delivery</p></li><li><p>Experience in a<span> </span><strong>startup or fast-moving technology environment</strong></p></li><li><p>Excellent communication skills in<span> </span><strong>English</strong></p></li><li><p>The ability to work autonomously and take ownership quickly</p></li></ul><p></p><p>First-time Engineering Managers with strong technical leadership experience are also encouraged to apply.</p><p>📍 The opportunity</p><p>🏠<span> </span><strong>Full</strong><span> </span><strong>Remote</strong></p><p>⏰<span> </span><strong>40 hours/week</strong>, covering Halifax / Atlantic time business hours</p><p>📅<span> </span><strong>Start:</strong><span> </span>August 31, 2026</p><p>📃<span> </span><strong>Contract:</strong><span> </span>Full-time fixed term, approximately<span> </span><strong>12–14 months</strong><span> </span>(parental leave coverage)</p><p>🏖️<span> </span><strong>Vacation:</strong><span> </span>20 days, prorated in the first year</p><p></p><p>The role reports directly to the<span> </span><strong>CEO</strong><span> </span>and comes with significant ownership from day one.</p></div></div><p><br></p>
