Our Purpose: Bringing quality, safety, and sustainability to life. </p><p><strong>What are we looking for:</strong></p><p>The <strong>Consultant - Electrical Safety</strong> position offers independent advice on engineering, science and/or other related topics to companies and government organizations.  A Consulting Engineer assists in providing more efficient services to clients and independently conducts on and off-site evaluations to determine specific solutions for each customer.  This position requires up to 30% travel. <strong>This position is not eligible for sponsorship.</strong></p><p><strong>Salary &amp; Benefits Information</strong></p><p>Individual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate including skill set, experience, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.  </p><p>When working with Intertek, you can expect salary and benefit package competitively placed within the local market, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP) with company match, generous vacation/sick time, tuition reimbursement and more. In addition to competitive compensation packages, Intertek employees are eligible for a variety of benefits including paid holidays. </p><p><strong>What you’ll do:</strong></p><ul><li>Identify, research, apply, and communicate requirements of National codes and standards.</li><li>Guide and advise customers through the Certification process and help them achieve their regulatory and safety goals. </li><li>Identify required product testing, develop test plans, and prepare products to meet third-party test requirements.</li><li>Conduct detailed design review; review products for compliance with standard requirements, identify potential gaps in compliance, document the results.</li><li>Perform technical assessments and analysis of specifications of projects and implement necessary solutions.</li><li>Provide specialized "expertise" in several product categories, i.e., become subject matter expert. </li><li>Lead client meetings, facilitate technical discussions, provide training classes.  </li><li>Provide sales support for any and all product requirements including direct customer presentations.</li><li>Supply information for quotes such as costs, project duration, resources and samples required, and standards that will be used.</li><li>Communicate project status to client, sales personnel, and management throughout project.</li><li>Play a variety of roles depending on projects, such as technical advisor, scientific researcher, project champion, project manager, among others. </li><li>Identify project needs and sample requirements for effective resource planning and meeting of client’s expectations.</li><li>Delegate tasks to other team members to make sure the project is completed on a timely basis.<span>         <strong> </strong></span></li></ul><p>This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details.  The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.  </p><p><strong>Minimum Requirements &amp; Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent. combination of education and directly related experience.</li><li>5+ years directly related experience; prefer electrical, regulatory, safety, compliance experience.</li><li>Experience with UL and IEC standards to demonstrate NRTL, CE marking and other regulatory compliance schemes.</li><li>Photovoltaic (PV) compliance experience, including knowledge of industry standards such as UL 61730-1, UL 1741, IEEE 1541. </li><li>Machinery and Tool compliance experience including knowledge of standards such as NFPA 79, UL 508, IEC 60204, IEC 61439, IEC 61010. </li><li>Understanding of Hydrogen Technology, including Fuel Cells, Electrolyzers, and Dispensers.</li><li>Strong understanding of Machinery Functional Safety requirements.</li><li>Knowledge and experience in industries such as PV, BESS, Industrial Controls, Oil and Gas, Transportation, Laser Technology and Energy Storage. </li><li>A valid driver's license and reliable driving record.</li><li><span><strong>This is a remote position; however, applicants must reside in and be able to legally work in Canada.</strong></span></li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Requirements &amp; Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Master's degree.</li><li>7+ years directly related experience in electrical, regulatory, safety compliance.</li><li>CMSE® - Certified Machinery Safety Expert</li><li>PE License</li></ul><p><strong>Intertek Total Quality Assured</strong></p><p>Intertek is a world leader in the Quality Assurance market, with a proven, high-quality business model and a global network of customer-focused operations and highly engaged subject matter experts.
