In 1991, Yemen ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and it was enacted immediately.  Since then the country has been making steady progress for children until it plunged into a brutal conflict in 2015 but even before that, Yemen needed large amounts of humanitarian assistance.</p> <p>In collaboration with local authorities, non-governmental organizations and community partners, UNICEF is working in all the governorates in Yemen to respond to the needs of children throughout the country with a continuum of services to help children survive and grow to their full potential through the following programmes: <a href="https://www.unicef.org/yemen/activities_11434.html">Health</a>, <a href="https://www.unicef.org/yemen/activities_11442.html">Nutrition</a>, <a href="https://www.unicef.org/yemen/activities_11440.html">Water, Sanitation and Hygiene</a>, <a href="https://www.unicef.org/yemen/activities_11438.html">Basic Education</a>, and <a href="https://www.unicef.org/yemen/activities_11436.html">Child protection</a>.</p> <p>For more on our work in Yemen, please visit our website: <a href="https://www.unicef.org/yemen/">https://www.unicef.org/yemen/</a></p> <p><strong>How can you make a difference?</strong> </p> <p>The consultancy's objective is to do scoping, and market & investment analysis, to strengthen food systems for children.</p> <p><strong>Purpose of the consultancy:</strong></p> <p>Under this consultancy assignment, the consultant will have to:</p> <ol start="1" type="1"> <li>Analyze the existing food systems to assess their effectiveness and sensitiveness to young Children’s diets in Yemen.</li> <li>Undertake a mapping of: Existing and promising initiatives to increase production of nutrient dense foods, especially by medium and larger local enterprises.</li> <li>Review the existing and potential opportunities to produce innovations through safe processing of nutrient dense foods</li> <li>Assess opportunities to produce safe, quality specialized supplements and fortified complementary foods for children</li> <li>Explore opportunities for collaboration with other UN agencies, partners and private sector stakeholders</li> <li>Define the role of private sector companies (SMEs, farmer cooperatives, and larger food processors) in the markets of the different countries</li> <li>Develop investment cases and support fundraising to further develop the above opportunities</li> </ol> <p><strong>The specific tasks and deliverables of this consultancy include:</strong></p> <p><strong><u>Task:</u></strong></p> <p>Inception Report.</p> <p><strong><u>Deliverable:</u></strong></p> <p>Submission of a Comprehensive Inception Report (10-page minimum): This deliverable shall detail the proposed technical methodology, a robust quality assurance framework, and a granular work plan with associated timelines.
